UVALAN 8 ANNOUNCED FOR AUGUST 2006
The Team Combat LAN Party is On!

CHANTILLY, VA (March 20, 2006) - UVALAN, the largest gathering of Tribes players on earth, continues the legacy of the Tribes community with its annual LAN party held in Chantilly, Virginia, USA. The party starts on Thursday, August 3, and concludes Sunday, August 6, 2006.

Excitement and team combat is the focus for this year's event. From the mainstay Tribes 1 and Tribes 2 to other games such as Counterstrike and Battlefield 2, there will be intense firefights happening from one end of the ballroom to the other. Official competitions with prizes will be held for the Tribes games, with possible additional competitions for other games depending on demand.

"We've been at this a while now, and we expect a great turnout this year," said event director Tom "Cheater" Szabo. "The Tribes community has grown up and matured, and there's been an influx of players from other games into the community, and we're here to welcome them." Szabo has been hosting the UVALAN series of events since 2000, for a grand total of eight events focused on team combat. In 2004, Szabo’s "Tribal Wars" hosted nearly 600 people on two coasts simultaneously, and was sponsored by major gaming industry companies such as ATI, Sierra, Creative and Soyo.

Co-founder Mark 'old_skul' Szabo says "There's been amazing community interest - everyone I've heard from is clamoring to get registered for this event. We hope to be able to host everyone this year." Last year's UVALAN 7 hosted the hardcore of the Tribes community in 2005, as well as a good number of new players, and players of other team combat games such as Battlefield:2.

A sponsored tournament is planned for the event, with competions in the community-loved games Tribes 1, Tribes 2, and Tribes: Vengeance. In addition, other games may be added based on demand.

UVALAN has traditionally been held during the summer months and has regularly attracted many hundreds of players, gamemakers and vendors. More information is available at http://www.uvalan.com.
